The most important thing is to get to the stain before it has a chance to set. Don’t let stains sit around.
2 - Blot instead of scrub.
Before cleaning, absorb whatever liquid or junk you can with a cloth or sponge. The goal is to pull out as much liquid as possible, to reduce the size and spread of the stain. The key is blotting. Blotting puts a small amount of pressure on the stain to soak it up. Always blot from the outside of the stain inward, as blotting outward can spread the stain.
3 - Use as little product as possible.
This reduces both the drying time and the risk of staining your carpet. For most stains, it’s ideal to use club soda or dish soap as a cleaning product. We spray a fine mist of our slippery Green cleaning solution on carpet when cleaning. Our green cleaning solution is environmentally friendly and non-toxic. Unlike the harsh chemicals used by other professional carpet cleaning companies, our solution is completely safe.
4 - Dry it well.
Blot thoroughly with a towel after you clean, as carpet that remains damp could grow mold. You can also use a fan or hair dryer to gently speed the process
5 - Let a pro handle it.
Sometimes, even with the best intentions, a homeowner can create a bigger problem by attempting to clean their carpet themselves. Several problems may develop as a result of DIY carpet cleaning procedures. The homeowner should be cognizant of these problems and follow directions carefully. Failure to follow these directions carefully could encourage mold and mildew growth or backing separation. The two most common problems associated with do-it-yourself carpet cleaning methods are overwetting and excessive use of detergents. Professional carpet cleaners have access to equipment and cleaning solutions that the public does not. In addition, professional carpet cleaners have experience remedying carpet discoloration.
